Editorial Policy

How we choose the apps we write about. Nobody can pay to be on our lists.

The short version

  • •No paid placements. No sponsored entries, no pay-to-be-listed, no ad slots inside a guide.
  • •No affiliate links. We earn nothing when you click through to another app or sign up for it.
  • •No reviews in exchange for anything. Not a free account, not a gift, not a link swap.
  • •We say when we are one of the options. Tovi appears in some of these lists. We name it plainly and we do not pretend to be neutral about our own app.

Nobody pays to be here

Companies write to us asking to be added to our comparison guides. Some offer to pay. Some offer to write the entry themselves. Some offer a free account in exchange for a review. The answer to all three is no, and it will stay no.

We have no rate card, because there is nothing to buy. If you are reading a Tovi guide, every app in it is there because we thought a parent should know about it.

We include our competitors on purpose

A guide that only flatters the company writing it is not a guide. We list apps that beat Tovi at things Tovi does not do, and we say what they are better at. If another app is the right answer for your family, we would rather you find it here than not find it at all.

Tovi is a Montessori activity app for children aged 0 to 5. It is not a monitoring or screen-time control app. Where a guide covers a category Tovi does not serve, we say so in the guide rather than stretching to look like a fit.

How we research a guide

  • •We work from each app's own pricing pages, feature pages, and public documentation. We do not claim to have tested every app hands-on, and we will not pretend otherwise.
  • •We describe what each app is best at, including where that is something Tovi does not do.
  • •Prices are the public list prices at the time of writing, in US dollars, and they go stale. Check the app's own site before you buy.
  • •We revisit guides when a listed app changes its pricing, shuts down, or ships something that changes the answer.

Corrections

We get things wrong. Prices change, features ship, and a fact that was true in March is not always true in September. If we have described your app inaccurately, email [email protected] with the correction and a link to the source. We fix errors for free, for anyone, including companies we compete with.

If you work at one of these companies

You are welcome to write to us. Two things are worth knowing before you do:

  • •We will read a correction, a pricing update, or a note that we have missed a feature, and we will act on it.
  • •We will not sell placement, publish a section you wrote, run a sponsored entry, or add an affiliate link. There is no version of this offer we accept, so please do not follow up with a higher number.

How Tovi is funded

Tovi is bootstrapped. No investors, no ads, no data sales. It is funded by Tovi+ memberships, which is the whole reason we can turn this money down. You can read how we handle your family's data in our privacy policy.
